Method 1: As with leaning, you can position your character with their back toward a low surface (chairs, benches, ledges) and gently tap the S key to back up. It might take a few taps, but eventually your character will sit down. From here, you can then press the Q key to cycle through five different sitting poses.

I’ve noted in the past that perhaps the party split for loot could work the same as for EXP in solo spots (100% loot for solo, 60% loot for each player in party of 2, 40% loot for each player in party of 3+) that way you could balance out the change in grind speed from solo to party play with differing loot mechanics.
