The general rule of thumb is to have 300 life per act, so by act 8 you want to be aiming for around 2400 life. As a melee build, I’d aim a little higher, personally. As for when I do cruel lab: I don’t tend to look at my level, but if my build is strong at that point then I’ll do it as soon as I reach act 8.
