1- Find a corner inside of a building to train your horse . Find a corner in a building in a safe location (any city/town/settlement), away from other people so you don’t annoy them. Then shove your poor horse’s head in it for a few hours to train. You can expect it to take that long, even when using this method. Racing into the Corner!

Cancel instant accel with a drift and go right back into instant accel. Do this repeatedly and quickly. Timing once again is tricky, but you can avoid the fail mini game doing this. Once instant accel and drift are mastered, wait until 80% of the way through instant accel animation to drift.

Don’t expect getting good skills without getting skill exchange coupons. also, you want the horse to have like 12/3+ skills in total at the end, so it’s easier to change skills if you decide to do that, because the trash skills are on the horse already and results in higher chance of exchanging a good skill.
